Interakt and Wabbiyo compared for WooCommerce WhatsApp automation

Interakt vs Wabbiyo: The WooCommerce WhatsApp Showdown

One is a dedicated e-commerce platform with Instagram and RCS alongside WhatsApp. The other runs inside your own WordPress install. The deciding factor is probably not the one on either pricing page.

Interakt is a WhatsApp Business API platform purpose-built for South Asian e-commerce — WooCommerce and Shopify integrations, COD-to-prepaid workflows, Instagram inbox, and INR-denominated plans.

Wabbiyo is a self-hosted WordPress plugin that brings comparable WooCommerce capability inside your own server, without a separate platform subscription.

Both are credible. Most comparisons between them stop at feature checklists, which is a shame, because the thing that usually decides the bill is buried in the footnotes of one pricing page.

Who this is for

WooCommerce store owners — particularly in India and South Asia — weighing a dedicated e-commerce platform against a native WordPress integration.

Where Interakt genuinely leads

Interakt is a serious product with real advantages, and several of them have nothing to do with WhatsApp.

  • More than one channel. Instagram DMs and comments arrive in the same inbox, and the top tier adds RCS. If your customers reach you across several channels, that consolidation is worth a lot.
  • Shopify as well as WooCommerce. If any part of your operation runs on Shopify, a WordPress plugin is no help at all.
  • COD-to-prepaid conversion built as a first-class workflow by a team who understand cash-on-delivery economics, rather than something you assemble.
  • Included conversations alongside campaign sending. Plans bundle a monthly allowance of free conversations, which softens the entry cost for lower-volume stores.
  • INR invoicing and India-based support, which matters more for accounting and GST than people outside the market tend to appreciate.
  • Native payments and catalogs inside the chat, tightly integrated with the commerce flows.

If two or more of those describe your setup, the rest of this comparison probably will not change your mind — and it shouldn't.

Where Wabbiyo takes a different route

  • Self-hosted on your server — conversations, contacts and consent records stay inside your WordPress database rather than a vendor's cloud
  • Native WordPress inboxmanaged from wp-admin with no second login or separate app
  • AI chatbot with retrieval — the chatbot runs on OpenAI, Claude or Gemini against your own FAQs, catalogue and policies, rather than following authored branches
  • Flat plugin fee with no per-conversation markup layered on Meta's rates
  • Agency plan covering 100 WooCommerce client sites at $39 a month under your own branding
  • GPL licensed — full source access, and no vendor able to change terms on a channel you depend on

The chatbot distinction is worth drawing out. Interakt's higher tiers offer branching flows with API calls and conditions, which is genuinely capable automation — but every reply is one somebody wrote. A retrieval-backed model answers questions nobody anticipated, which is where most support volume actually sits.

The cost difference is not on the pricing page

Comparing subscription fees is the obvious move and the wrong one, because for most BSPs the subscription is only part of the bill.

Meta charges a published rate per conversation. Many Business Solution Providers add a percentage on top before passing it to you. Independent analyses of Interakt's rate card put that markup in the region of 12–15% on marketing conversations, with utility conversations reported considerably higher. Interakt's own plan comparison lists removal of template markups as an Enterprise-tier benefit — which tells you it applies below that tier.

Why this compounds

A subscription fee is fixed. A percentage markup is not — it scales with every message you send. The more successful your WhatsApp channel becomes, the larger the gap grows, which is the opposite of how you want a cost to behave.

Wabbiyo adds nothing to Meta's rates. You connect your own Meta Business account and Meta bills you directly at its published prices. The plugin fee sits alongside that rather than on top of it, and analytics report against your own order data rather than an exported figure.

For a low-volume store the included-conversation allowance in Interakt's plans may well come out ahead. As volume grows, the markup becomes the dominant term and the arithmetic reverses. Work out your own numbers at your actual monthly volume rather than trusting either vendor's example.

Check current rates

Markup percentages and plan structures change, and Meta updated its India rate card in January 2026. Confirm current figures on each vendor's pricing page before deciding.

COD to prepaid: can Wabbiyo do it?

Yes, though the honest framing is that you build it rather than switch it on.

The Flow Builder handles the sequence natively: a cash-on-delivery order triggers a WhatsApp confirmation offering a prepaid switch at a discount, with the response updating the WooCommerce order directly through native hooks. No Zapier, no webhook plumbing.

The outcome matches Interakt's dedicated COD conversion feature. The difference is that Interakt ships it configured and Wabbiyo gives you the nodes to assemble it — perhaps thirty minutes of work, and more adjustable afterwards because you built it.

Which you prefer depends on whether you would rather have a workflow tuned by a team who specialise in COD, or one you can reshape without waiting for a roadmap.

INR versus USD billing

Interakt invoices in INR, which removes currency conversion from your accounting and simplifies GST treatment for India-based businesses. That is a real convenience.

Wabbiyo's plugin fee is USD, though the practical impact is smaller than it first appears — since Meta introduced direct INR billing for India, your API charges, which are the volume-dependent part of the bill, can be settled in rupees regardless of which platform you use. The currency question applies only to a fixed monthly plugin fee, not to the part that scales.

A predictable USD fee plus INR-billed API charges at Meta's published rates is a different cost shape from an INR subscription with a percentage riding on every message.

Neither is automatically cheaper. But one is predictable as you grow and the other is not.

The verdict

Choose Interakt if any part of your business runs on Shopify, if Instagram or RCS matter alongside WhatsApp, if you want COD conversion working out of the box, or if INR invoicing and local support simplify your operations meaningfully.

Choose Wabbiyo if WordPress is where your business actually lives, if you want conversation data in your own database, if a retrieval-backed AI chatbot would absorb real support volume, if you run cart recovery against your own order data, if you manage several client sites, or if you expect message volume to grow and want the per-message cost to stay at Meta's published rate.

The single question that resolves it: is WhatsApp one channel among several for you, or is it the channel bolted onto a WordPress store? Interakt is built for the first situation. A WordPress plugin is built for the second.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, it works on any WordPress site regardless of country. Meta bills API conversation fees directly, and since Meta introduced direct INR billing those charges can be settled in rupees. Only the plugin fee itself is USD-denominated.✓✓ answered
Yes. Messages send through the official WhatsApp Cloud API, so throughput limits are Meta's rather than the platform's. Your sending capacity depends on your Meta Business account tier and quality rating, not on which tool sits in front of it.✓✓ answered
Independent analyses put Interakt's markup at roughly 12–15% on marketing conversations, and its own plan comparison lists removal of template markups as an Enterprise-tier feature. Verify current rates directly, since these change.✓✓ answered
Yes, built in the Flow Builder rather than shipped as a preset. A COD order triggers a confirmation offering a prepaid switch at a discount, and the response updates the WooCommerce order through native hooks. Roughly half an hour to set up.✓✓ answered
Interakt, without qualification. A self-hosted WordPress plugin cannot manage a Shopify storefront, so if any meaningful share of your orders comes through Shopify a platform covering both is the sensible choice.✓✓ answered
Neither locks your WhatsApp number — your Meta Business account is yours and switching means repointing a webhook. The difference is your conversation history and contact data, which stay in your own database with a self-hosted plugin and need exporting from a hosted platform.✓✓ answered

Compare the total, not the subscription.

Take your actual monthly message volume, add the platform fee to the per-conversation cost including any markup, and the right answer usually becomes obvious.
